Holy Sh*t

It is hard to believe that its been almost one year since I updated this blog. Much has changed since then. Currently I am entering my last year of law school, and it is hard to determine how to update or continue this blog

I am at a crossroads in my life. What should I do next year? Practice law in Ohio? North Carolina? DC? Las Vegas? Chicago? Should I go into the FBI and become a special agent? Honestly I don't know. What I do know is that this upcoming year will be my busiest yet. Going to school full time, work, SBA, Federalist Society, and now Law Review my time will be precious. However I think the work put into this upcoming year will pay off in the end. In today's horrific economy I will have to seperate myself from the rest of the field so everything helps.

So here is a list of things I have done this summer.

1. Worked for the Public Defender's Office. Every day of every week this summer I spent time in court. Most of my job was trying to get a good deal from the prosecutor and then convincing the defendant to take the recommendation. However, I did on occasion fight out cases in court in hopes of winning.

2. I went to several state parks. This year I wanted to go to state parks to hike and enjoy nature. I was able to go through several beautiful parks located in Ohio (who knew).

3. Traveled to DC. In July I traveled to our nation's capital for a conference. There I met several new friends and was able to be a tourist in DC (first time in over 10 years). One night I was fortunate of going to a picnic at Ted Olson's house were I was able to meet Secretary Chertoff and Justice Alito. As a matter of fact, Alito cut in front of me at the open bar.

So there is a list of things I have done this summer. Its not exclusive.

The Future

I don't know the future of this blog. If you wish for it to continue please let me know (I doubt anyone reads this).

The Second Year

In two days I will begin my second year of law school at the University of Toledo. Past couple of days I've had the opportunity of meeting some of the 1L class. They seem to be a good class, but there is still time to decide. My classes look difficult but they need to be done with. I'll post more info later.

Post Op

Well I had my shoulder surgery on Thursday. Everything went to plan and the doctor drilled holes into my shoulder bone to sew the muscle back into place. My shoulder is very stiff and soar right now and I am on at the most 8 vicodin pills a day.
Besides surgery I made the Dean's List again in Law School again!!!! This should be helpful when it comes to applying for jobs next summer.

Breathe in the air, don't be afraid to care...

Well I guess its been too long from my last post. So what is new you may ask. Well summer classes are going as well ask I had expected. I was also asked to be a teaching assistant for the Torts class this summer and for the fall. I guess that will look good on a resume when it comes to find a summer job next year. Speaking of that I am sorta eyeing to get into Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick for next summer's associate position. The reason being is that; 1. they are an excellent firm and 2. they have an office in Charlotte which is the city I wish to move to and practice after law school. I have finals in two weeks and I am busily studying for them while trying to get my stuff together for when I officially move to the Toledo area and be much closer to school. I officially move on July 23rd and I have most of the stuff for the apartment. Its gonna be a total bachlor pad with the fixins. Lastly on a more down note I am having surgery on Aug. 2 at the Fulton County Hospital. I am getting my right shoulder fixed. I am a bit nervous considering its my first ever major surgery and I don't like the idea of people cutting me open whether I'm awake or not. Well those are my big three things in life at the moment; finals, moving, and surgery. Besides that my life is pretty much the same boring story.

On a side note a fellow classmate added me to her blog and encouraged her readers to read my blog as well. So here is the link to Priscilla Esquivel's blog is attached. I encourage those who read this to read her blog as well.

Take care

Jordan
